About

The Roanoke Arts Council was established in 2008 to encourage greater appreciation for the fine arts in the greater Roanoke community. To date, eleven annual events have been staged by the organization. A Renaissance in Roanoke, an outdoor, juried art show and sale, brought more than 50 artists. They were joined by a Plein Air competition for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students from Roanoke Elementary School and an open Plein Air competition. In all, well over 100 artists competed in all the events. Entertainment has varied and each year children’s art activities were provided. A Farmers' Market and Food Court are also provided. The events have been well attended. In 2018 a juried craft area was added to the event which proved to be a big success.
